The ChargePoint Network
A Smart Way to Plug In
Coulomb Technologies’ smart plug-in vehicle charging infrastructure, called the ChargePoint Network, communicates with and individually controls Smartlet Networked Charging Stations to provide authentication, usage monitoring and real-time control. The Smartlet Networked Charging Stations perform bi-directional energy metering and wireless communication, enabling a sustainable business model that meets the needs of drivers, utility companies and municipalities.
Through the ChargePoint Network, a smart charging infrastructure brings to the fueling business:

The ChargePoint Network Operating System (NOS) communicates with and individually manages Smartlet Networked Charging Stations to provide authentication/authorization, usage monitoring and real-time control. The client server architecture allows the ChargePoint NOS to scale to an unlimited number of charging stations and subscribers. The server is a secure, open, web-based application built on standard, reliable software and hardware platforms. For maximum security and availability the server is hosted by a Tier I application-hosting provider.
Benefits
The ChargePoint Network is a necessary enabler for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, which have the potential to greatly decrease the world’s reliance on oil as a transportation fuel. Electricity can be derived from clean, renewable sources and help solve the vehicle emissions problem. The networking capability of the ChargePoint Network can also help taxing authorities recover revenue lost when gasoline taxes diminish due to a shift away from gasoline and diesel toward electricity as transportation fuel.

The ChargePoint Network diagram illustrates how the CT1000 and CT2000 family of Smartlet Networked Charging Stations enables drivers to recharge and how subscribers, hosts and utilities access the ChargePoint Network through ChargePoint NOS Portals.
